Train aircrew and other designated personnel in employment of principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment that enhance survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE) prospects, regardless of climatic conditions or hostile environments. Its objective is to facilitate their return with honor to friendly forces without rendering aid or comfort to an enemy, with or without organized recovery.
A SECRET security clearance with a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NdA) on file in JPAS is required to attend S-V80-A. This policy is not waiverable.
Personnel are selected for training in accordance with AFI 16-1301. Training is a one-time requirement.
Training is for 19 continuous days.
Students will comply with Air Force physical fitness and weight standards IAW AFI 36-2905. Students must bring a copy of their current Fitness Assessment indicating a passing score (75 or greater) IAW AFI 36-2905. YOU MUST BE IN GOOD SHAPE BEFORE ATTENDING SERE TRAINING. The training is physically rigorous, including long days of walking several miles over rough terrain in all weather conditions while carrying a 50-pound pack. Students not meeting standards will be sent back to their respective unit.
