Pararescue Indoctrination Course Warning Order

Prior to every Pararescue (PJ) mission, a Warning Order is given explaining everything that is needed for the upcoming mission. This is your Warning Order! It will give you a guideline of how to prepare for YOUR next mission the Pararescue Indoctrination Course. Remember the seven P's rule: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Painfully Poor Performance.

PARARESCUE INDOCTRINATION COURSE WARNING ORDER

INTRODUCTION

This handout is a course description of the Pararescue Indoctrination course training conducted at Lackland AFB, Texas. Half of the struggle to graduate from the indoctrination course is getting accepted, so congratulations, you are halfway there. There is some very valuable information in this handout on subjects such as course description of all phases of the indoctrination course workouts to get you prepared for the physical stresses of training and helpful hints on nutrition. The Pararescue Indoctrination Course Warning Order is designed to prepare any highly motivated individual, regardless of athletic history, for the toughest military training in the world.

Pararescue extends a personal challenge to those interested individuals like yourself. The indoctrination course program will push you to your physical and mental limits, again and again, until you are hard and strong, both physically and mentally, and ready for the adventures of a lifetime in the Pararescue community. WHAT'S IT LIKE? When some hot spot lights up in a remote corner of the world, the US military dispatches forces, Special Tactics and Combat Search and Rescue are there first, preparing the way. Pararescuemen provide rescue, recovery, and the medical trauma expertise. "That Others May Live" is the mission motto of Pararescuemen. So, if you're ready for both a challenge and an adventure, the Air Force has just the Training to test your mettle. BE SOMEONE SPECIAL!!! BE PJ!!!!

As an indoctrination course student, you will participate in challenging training and encounter opportunities to develop and test stamina and leadership. Indoctrination course training is extremely tough physically and mentally; but through adequate preparation and a positive attitude, you can meet its challenges with confidence. The workout schedules in this booklet are designed to prepare you physically for the Pararescue Indoctrination Course. You are the one who has to prepare to give all you have every day. At the indoctrination course, it is essential to live, eat, sleep, and think PJ. Every day requires 100% effort. The Pararescue Indoctrination Course is a challenge, but if you meet it head-on with determination not to fail or quit, it will be the most rewarding time of your life. Good Luck and HOO-YAH!!!!

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Pararescue Indoctrination Course is a structured, progressive 10 week physical training program that consists of running, calisthenics, swimming, water confidence events, open water compass swims, obstacle course, weight training, weapons qualification, motivational week, CPR, altitude chamber, pipeline briefings and academics. The program builds from the pre-training outlines in this warning order and from the Physical abilities and Stamina Test (PAST) you will need to pass in order to qualify for entry into the candidate course program. The course is divided into two phases as depicted in previous pages. During these two Phases, students learn the history of Pararescue and Combat Control and get classes on nutrition, preventative medicine and sports medicine. The focus during these phases is your ability to work together as a team and deal with the daily stresses. You will learn the value of keeping your composure, perseverance, and above all TEAMWORK. Each day you will run, swim, do various calisthenics, open water swims, obstacle course, and train underwater in order to prepare for daily progress checks and weekly evaluations that you must pass in order to continue. This is accomplished through a progressive training program using underwater swim, mask and snorkel recovery, treading water, buddy breathing, drown proofing, and weight belt swims. By giving 100% you can learn to adapt yourself to comfortably working underwater. Phase one is your gut check. This phase will develop your inner self-concept and show you things about yourself you didn't know and didn't think you were capable of doing. By giving 100% daily, keeping motivated, and by telling yourself you can succeed at this level of training-you will have reached a point that will ensure your successful progress at becoming that "SOMEONE SPECIAL" in the Air Force. The final evaluation for Phase II is:
